Thoughts of Late...

Courtesy of Flicker

Happy Monday! Hope you all had lovely weekends. My weekend was filled with all things fashion, which I’ll update you all on soon.

This year’s off to a busy, busy start, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I keep reminding myself to take time to savor the little things. Preferably, the little things are reflected upon over a quiet moment with a cup of tea, but since those are few and far between, here are a few of them…

* A professional goal that’s been checked off the list ahead of schedule. Done and Done.

* Glamorous little side projects that came to fruition on the first days of the New Year.

* Dinner party conversation that turned to the plotting of the next Queen Sofia Spanish Institute exhibition about Mariano Fortuny y Madrazo, the creator of the distinct Fortuny pleat. Even if it’s years away, an exhibition devoted to the magnitude of fabrics Fortuny created makes me so very excited.

* Invites to designer studios and showrooms to preview the new collections.

* Declining previews to celebrate precious moments with friends. There will always be glamorous events where your presence will be requested, but close friends are certainty something to treasure.

What are you savoring these days?

  1. I love this kind of posts, they are so uplifting! These days I enjoy being at my parents' house and living in my old children's room. I'm browsing through my old school books and reading 'The Little Prince' and although I've read it over and over again, I always cry at his symbolic death and the tiny fox :))

  2. Florina- Thank you. I'm a firm believer in an uplifting post now and again;)

There's something very comforting about going home:)

    Love The Little Prince.

  3. Congrats on checking a goal off your list, it really is one of the best feelings :)

I´m enjoying the learning curve at my "new" job three months in, quality time with my drawing tablet, the feeling of getting faster and stronger from working out, and the return of sunlight after a long winter. The fact that we´ll have sunlight well into the late evenings in only a few months is making me ridiculously happy - I spend a lot of time whining about Norwegian winters, but the midnight sun in the summer makes it all worth it :)

    1. Maja H- Thank you. It's a good feeling even though I'm always looking for the next challenge;)

Your new job sounds exciting and I love that it hasn't stopped you from making the time for your drawing.

I agree with you on working out. Don't you find that it's head clearing too?

Sunlight makes all the difference. The feeling of being able to leave work and have sun left- AMAZING. I'm jealous of your midnight sun. I love when I travel and get to experience it, however briefly.

  4. Such a lovely post. I am looking forward to savouring your thoughts on fashion week.
So far, I am enjoying 2012. Exciting prospects at work, a great trip to Hong Kong, an ongoing visit to India from two of my favourite people in the world, and a general sense of lightness about what the year will bring...it's made for a good couple of months.
A Fortuny exhibition sounds wonderful! You are so fortunate to live in New York.

I'm so excited for this exhibition. The QSSI is onto something. I love taking advantage of all that NYC has to offer.

  6. Love this! Your thoughtful posts always make my day :)

These days I'm enjoying the hunt for a good Breton top. After reading the style reflections of wardrobe curators such as Dead Fleurette, 0000, and the like, I am convinced of its perfection. Finding a perfect fit is a slow process though...but I'm savoring it. :)

    1. drifterqueen- Thank you! I'm always hesitant to share anything personal, since I'm a very private person, so this is great to hear.

I love my collection of breton shirts. They're such a classic item, that's worth the hunt to find the perfect fit.

  7. It's wonderful that despite your hectic but exciting life, you take the time to connect with your close friends. So few actually choose to do so.

    5. Speck- Yes! Save a few shows here and there I'm OK with London and Milan being rather condensed and after a few days of both, I just feel ready for Paris.

  9. Speaking of enjoying the little things, which for me includes blogs and lots of tea - I thought I would let you know I'm your 100th follower via Bloglovin'. I feel like confetti should be thrown and balloons should drop. Lol. I thought that was too cute to not post and say. Love your blog, which is one of the things I'm savoring and taking time to slow down and really enjoy the quiet moments with my dog and be fully present in the moment, not rushing and thinking about what's next at work and spending quality time with family and friends.

I really have to learn how to enjoy the quiet moments more. I'm a work in progress there. I'm always more focused on what's next!

I love spending quality time with friends and family.

  10. It's so important to take the time to enjoy the little things, because when it comes down to it, life is all about those "little things." If you don't appreciate them, you miss out. Thanks for the inspiring post, and the reminder to slow down and soak it in. :)

Congrats on checking off that professional goal ahead of schedule :) I have been writing down all the little great things that have been occurring this year so far and reviewing them over a lovely cup of tea :) It really makes a difference when the world around you seems stressful just to think about the little things :)
