My Personal Photo Hope you're all having a good start to the week. Here's a peek at one of two pairs of Yves Saint Laurent shoes that were a birthday gift to myself. Is there a better way to celebrate a birthday? These shoes had me at hello. I'm fastidious when it comes to purchases and often come back to the items that first caught my eye. I LOVE a patent leather pump. The rich teal color is unexpected, but works seamlessly with my fall color palette. Sometimes I like to balance a simple outfit with a bold shoe. I wasn't convinced on the stacked heel loafer prior to trying these on, but surprisingly they flatter my feet. I love how versatile these shoes are. I've already worn them with a several of my tailored dresses and they look just as polished with my off duty uniform. Have you been pleasantly surprised by any recent additions to your wardrobe? |

They are lovely. Platforms are so comfortable, and that colour is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteMy birthday gift to myself is a holiday in Rajasthan in north India. Should be lovely :) Also, I want to rid myself of unnecessary stress and focus on the important things in life. Like family, fulfillment, and...shoes ;)
I adore the colour of these! Very autumnal, I do love greens of any shade. I do love a stacked heel at this time of year too, I feel safer on the slippery paths than in stilettos :)
ReplyDeleteLove, Vanilla
Ammu- Thank you. Platforms are rather comfortable, even when they’re high. You can’t lose. I’m in love with the color.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of treating yourself to a birthday gift. A holiday sounds delightful. I hope you have a wonderful time. I kept reflecting on making this year less anxiety prone and stressful too. Yes, family, fulfillment and shoes (of course) are the most important things.
Vanilla - Notes from my closet- The color is very autumnal and yet they’re still neutral enough to work with so many things. I love that I’m adding green to my wardrobe.
Excellent point about the stacked heel. The sidewalks during this time of year can be quite tricky to navigate.
Prêt à Porter P- Thank you!!!
Wow!!!! Those shoes are gorgeous. Very autumn. You have a great shoe collection.
ReplyDeleteJust smashing!
ReplyDeleteAnonymous- Thank you. They are very autumn. It's all about the shoes;)
ReplyDeleteanorexicescapades.com- Thank you! Who doesn't like being called smashing;)
ReplyDeleteI love this shade of green. It will wardrobe staple for many season to come. Sadly I haven't bought (much) yet this season - too much studying!!!!
ReplyDeleteJoy- I love this shade of green as a wardrobe staple. Yet surprisingly I had nothing in this color.
ReplyDeleteI hope school is going well:) I hear you with being too busy to shop. Aside from my ballet flats and these shoes I haven't had much time to shop this fall. I've come to a point where it's really about adding a few special items to my wardrobe.
I love buying birthday gifts for myself, I have 20 days to figure out what I want. ;)
ReplyDeleteI think a new pair of shoes is one of the best ways to celebrate your birthday with. And your shoes are so beautiful - the shape is so timeless and you get bonus points for them being teal and extra, extra points for being patent.
Ginta- I love that I'm not the only one treating myself:) I can't wait to see how you decide to indulge yourself.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on shoes being the perfect celebratory gift. You're so right about the shoes being timeless. That's always key to me. I think we both share a love for patent leather.
Those shoes..! They are wonderful! I'm sure you look gorgeous with it :)

Camille S.- Thank you! Can't wait to wear them more:)
ReplyDeleteThese are fabulous. Yes, this is THE way to treat yourself for your birthday! I recently found myself bemoaning a very stupid decision to give a pair of Bally loafers to charity. I hadn't worn them in three years and when I moved to NYC, I decided I should give them away. Then a few months ago I surprised myself by wanting loafers again! Amazingly, I did find another pair and I pounced! (Not Bally, though...)
ReplyDeleteAlice Olive- Thank you. Yes, I agree- this is the way to treat yourself.
ReplyDeleteYour Bally loafers sound AMAZING. I can't believe you gave them away. They make gorgeous bags and shoes. I'm glad you another pair of loafers that you love though:)
The color is amazing. What a birthday treat. Do you ever incorporate menswear into your wardrobe? I could so picture these with a masculine touch :)
ReplyDeleteFiona- Thank you! The color really makes all the diference.
ReplyDeleteYou are right on about incorporating menswear. I'm actually wearing them right now in a very meanswear inspired way (with slouchy but tailored trousers and a tweedy jacket). Something about it feels just right.
