Just a little reminder to enjoy the present. Over the weekend I was doing just that when I came across these sunflowers. I have a weakness for gardens and landscapes. I couldn't help but think that summer is not over yet. I'm intent on enjoying the carefree season. Don't get me wrong, September and October are absolutely breathtaking in New York. Early autumn when you can still linger outside is one of my favorite times of year. 

While I love early autumn, I've had fall on my mind since February. It all starts with the collections and quickly intensifies into a life of its' own. For better or worse the seasons are rushed. We barely reached summer and Pre-Fall hit stores. It's all very cyclical, but that's all the more reason why it's import to savour the now. The last few weeks have been busy, but it's always important to take time out to enjoy the little things.

Happy Unofficial Start to Summer!

I hope you all had lovely weekends. Memorial day aside, for me summer unofficially commences when I can finally show off a cheery pedicure (I'm currently loving OPI Red). Once I find something that works I'm extremely loyal. A pedicure, white denim, nautical stripes, loosely tousled hair and dewy makeup are a few of my favorite summer weekend looks. 

My weekend included a trip to the spa, reading, working on my photography, shopping for lacy things in mauve and aubergine, elaborate picnics and rowing along in a little rowboat in Central Park. I love that park and there's nothing like the first few warm days to get me out in the fresh air. I happily threw on a summery  Temperley dress and we made our way to the lake. Little did I know that balancing two in a rowboat while trying to take a few outfit shots would be a challenge to say the least. I'm happy to report that the boat did not overturn and we were not marooned along the banks.

If there is one thing I've learned it's to stay true to my aesthetic. Even if that means rowing in a Temperley dress. I simply wouldn't be me if I didn't pull myself together for even the most relaxed summer afternoons. How did you spend the weekend? 

PS- How wonderful is that Loewe picnic hamper? Loewe is one of those luxury brands that has been on my mind lately. There's a consistency to their vision that is simply divine.

Last week was glorious. It FINALLY feels like Spring. A few days even felt like Summer. 

One of my favorite things about Spring is reaching for a lightweight trench coat. Whether paired with a sheath dress for work or a cocktail dress for evening outings, this is one item I wear constantly throughout the Spring. A trench coat always makes me feel poised and stylish. This week was finally warm enough to run out the door in a  trench coat. A trench is a quick way to look at once effortless, but pulled together. Being able to ditch the heavy coat and throw on a trench is always a joyous moment. My only requisite is that the waist must be cinched.

Now that the days are warmer, I have turned my attention to my Spring wardrobe. I'm inspired to bring color into my wardrobe. Dove grey along with dusty blue, neutral shades of cream, blush and beige are colors that I will incorporate into my wardrobe. Although, I could live in my white and ivory silk shirts. There's something sculptural and clean about white paired with black that I gravitate toward. My silk shirts are quickly becoming a signature look. 

In spite of my busy schedule, I make it a point to get outside and enjoy the fresh air. The sun is mood improving. Last week I enjoyed catching up with friends and former colleagues over lunch al fresco. We all shared a good laugh over how stressful and intense the weeks leading up to my trip were. I'm a firm believer that laughter is contagious and a genuine smile the best accessory. Spring is made for meeting up with friends in Bryant Park; watching, cheering and maybe even squeezing in a Petanque game.

Spring is being able to sleep with the windows open. Don't you just sleep better with fresh air? Although, something tells me that I won't be able to sleep tonight. Met Season kicks off tomorrow with Met Ball and the opening of the Met Costume Institutes's exhibition "Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty." After months of anticipation it's finally here. Something tells me this is going to be another good week. Demain.
