Thoughts of Late...

Happy Monday! Hope you all had lovely weekends. My weekend was filled with all things fashion, which I’ll update you all on soon.

This year’s off to a busy, busy start, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I keep reminding myself to take time to savor the little things. Preferably, the little things are reflected upon over a quiet moment with a cup of tea, but since those are few and far between, here are a few of them…

* A professional goal that’s been checked off the list ahead of schedule. Done and Done.

* Glamorous little side projects that came to fruition on the first days of the New Year.

* Dinner party conversation that turned to the plotting of the next Queen Sofia Spanish Institute exhibition about Mariano Fortuny y Madrazo, the creator of the distinct Fortuny pleat. Even if it’s years away, an exhibition devoted to the magnitude of fabrics Fortuny created makes me so very excited.

* Invites to designer studios and showrooms to preview the new collections.

* Declining previews to celebrate precious moments with friends. There will always be glamorous events where your presence will be requested, but close friends are certainty something to treasure.

Christmastime In The City

Just popping in to say a quick hello and happy holidays. I hope you're all enjoying the season. I love this time of year and make it a point to savor every moment. If I may toot my horn for just a second; I must admit that I have a talent for being able to find that thoughtful and luxurious gift for just about anyone. It takes careful planning and precision to come up with the perfect gift for everyone on my list. By the time  Christmas rolls around I can barely contain my excitement. 

In recent years, it's really the little things that make Christmastime so special. A handwritten note of gratitude. Staying up until 3 AM baking cookies. Immaculately wrapped presents. Decorating doorways, mantles and trees. All of the traditions. Spending time with family over leisurely long dinners and talking into the wee hours of the night. 

I'm officially on holiday, but checking work email compulsively. I'm not the best at relaxing, but these last few days have been lovely...

A Little Reminder

Just a little reminder to enjoy the present. Over the weekend I was doing just that when I came across these sunflowers. I have a weakness for gardens and landscapes. I couldn't help but think that summer is not over yet. I'm intent on enjoying the carefree season. Don't get me wrong, September and October are absolutely breathtaking in New York. Early autumn when you can still linger outside is one of my favorite times of year. 

While I love early autumn, I've had fall on my mind since February. It all starts with the collections and quickly intensifies into a life of its' own. For better or worse the seasons are rushed. We barely reached summer and Pre-Fall hit stores. It's all very cyclical, but that's all the more reason why it's import to savour the now. The last few weeks have been busy, but it's always important to take time out to enjoy the little things.
